Cleaning Vials

• Put on gloves and aquire two 600 mL containers (one labeled soap, one labeled water) and the vials/flasks to be cleaned.
• Use pure water from the Milli-Q purification machine.
• Rinse containers and put the vials in the soap container.
• Pour a small (2% of total volume) amount of Hellmanex cleaner into the soap container and fill.
• Use necessary precautions associated with Hellmanex.
• Put the soap container in the sonicator and fill the bath.
• Turn it on and clean the vials for 10 minutes.
• Empty out the container and rinse the vials a few times.
• Refill the soapy container with water, no Hellmanex and sonicate for anther 10 minutes.
• Empty the container again, rinse the vials, and place them into the water container, fill.
• Repeat sonication and rinsing a few more times.
• Dry the vials in the oven at ~100C.
• When they are dry, rinse once with methanol and dry again.
• Your vials are now ready to use.
